Aztec Challenge for the Atari 2600

Aztec Challenge for the Atari 2600

    The Story of A-VCS-tec Challenge

After finishing Mental Kombat I decided to continue 2600 development and thought of a nice game with use of moving and animated sprites.

    The Introduction Sequence
The cartridge starts up with playing the music and fading in the mask in the middle of the screen.

Afterwards the game title appears and a scrolltext at the bottom of the screen shows the credits for the development and the copyright.

    The Game
You find yourself located on a plain field and can barely see a small pyramid on the horizon. The sun is burning and before long the first spear is thrown by one of the spear-throwers along the sides of your path.

As the game progresses, the pyramid is zooming and you’re getting closer to your goal: the safety of the pyramid’s inside.

You should try not to collide with the spears, because otherwise a screen like this will inform you that your quest is over. Your final score is shown until you use the fire-button to return to the game’s introduction sequence.

And if you manage to survive all the different levels, you will be presented with an endsequence to celebrate your victory. [More at Source]

“City of Heroes” going free to play.

Paragon Studios announced that ‘City of Heroes’, their 7 year running Pay to Play MMO, will be adopting the Free to Play business model that seems to be so popular these days.

‘City of Heroes Freedom’ is to be more than a simple extension of the 14 free trial that new subscribers and pick up now.  New players will have 2 character slots, a level 50 cap using over 100 different power sets.

Granted, all of this sounds good and all.  But I’m not sure what they are going to be able to do about the whole boring and extremely repetitive gameplay.

Xbox LIVE has not been LULz’d

Even I’ve seen some posts about people claiming that LIVE has been hacked.   and even though I asked for proof, nothing was provided.   So.  I can only believe that it’s Sony marketing people saying LIVE has been hacked in order to shift blame.
anyway.. according to Major Nelson from Xbox.  He tweeted on 6/17:

I am seeing concern that Xbox LIVE is compromised. So far All we’ve seen is a random list of emails. Nothing indicating a breach.

So where has Sony, Nintendo, Sega, and many others have been hacked.  We’d not seen LIVE go down..      Yet.     Me thinks it’s only a matter of time. Sad smile

Add Sega to the list of hacked companies.

According to Reuters, Sega reveled that 1.3 million user accounts, including birth dates and passwords, where hacked from the Sega Pass network on 06/17.
Sega says they are sorry, and will be doing something to strengthen their security.

The weird thing?  LulzSec isn’t saying they did this one.  As a matter of fact they Tweeted:

    – contact us. We want to help you destroy the hackers that attacked you. We love the Dreamcast, these people are going down.

    Sega’s Press Release:

We have also reset your password and all access to SEGA Pass has been temporarily suspended.

Additionally we recommend you please take extra caution if you should receive suspicious emails that ask for personal or sensitive information.
